Q: What is Botox?
A: Botox is a purified form of protein. It is a non surgical treatment that can temporarily reduce facial lines and wrinkles, most commonly in the forehead, frown lines between your eyebrows and crows feet.
Q: How does it work?
A: Lines and wrinkles are caused by repeated muscle activity. By injecting directly into the muscles the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles are blocked. This reduces the activity in the muscle thus reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Q: How do I get started?
A: You can call me to arrange a consultation. My name is Gill Burke and my number is 07837415870. During the consultation I will need to ask you a series of questions regarding your medical history and discuss the areas you wish to treat. Following the consultation, a consent form will be signed and then we can begin the treatment. Depending on the amount of areas you have treated , it should take between 15 and 20 minutes.
Q: What else can Botox be used for?
A: Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating. Botox has the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for activating the body's sweat glands. Contact me to discuss this treatment further.
Q: When will I see the results and how long will they last?
: You will begin to see improvements after 2 or 3 days and the appearance of your lines and wrinkles will continue to improve for up to a month. You will notice how the appearance of your frown line and crows feet will reduce and your skin will appear smoother. Results will last for approximately 3 months so regular treatments are recommended to maintain the wrinkle free look.
Q: Are there any other side effect?
A: The most common side effects after botox injections include temporary eyelid drooping and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may also be associated with the injection. I will discuss any potential side effects with you during your treatment and offer you advice for post treatment care. However, if at any time you have any questions or concerns please contact me: 07837415870.
Q: What will happen if I stop treatments?
A: Botox is a temporary treatment and it is recommended that you repeat the treatment every 3 months. If you stop having Botox treatments your lines and wrinkles will just return to how they were before.
