I often get questions about the chemical skin peel treatments I offer so I thought I would summarise the most frequently asked questions and answers to help you understand more about the treatments and if they are something you would like to try.
Q: What are Chemical Skin Peels?
A: Chemical Skin Peels are treatments that contain active ingredients (usually mild acids) that remove the surface of the skin. The results leave the skin looking smoother and younger. Chemical Skin Peels are used to treat many conditions including Ageing, Acne, Hyper-pigmentation, Age Spots and Uneven skin tone.
Q: Are all peels the same?
A: No. Different peels use different chemicals to achieve the result desired. This will be decided on the needs of your skin, the results to be achieved, your age and skin classification.
Q: How will I know what peel is right for me?
A: You will have a full consultation and we will discuss your areas of concern and the outcome you desire. You can also learn more about my most popular peels and which peel is right for you here.
Q: What is involved in the treatment?
A: The procedure involves degreasing the skin then applying the acid. Each peel has different requirements for how long it is left on you face but when it is ready to be removed, the acid will then be neutralised. You may feel a slight stinging sensation in some areas. After the treatment, application of sun block and avoidance of sunlight and sunbeds is recommended. For the best results, it is recommended that you have four peels in total, one every two weeks.
Q: What happens to my skin after the treatment?
A: Again it depends on the peel you have but you may find some of you skin peeling off in areas. However, this is just a small amount of skin and nothing you would need to worry about. There are products available to apply to your skin after the treatment to achieve the best results. We will discuss these options during your treatment.
